Abstract

The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) is a comprehensive and multifaceted study concerning the competencies of the adult population, implemented by the OECD. The study is carried out during the years 2009-2013 in 24 countries under the management of an International Consortium conducted by ETS, Educational Testing Service, Princeton, USA. The purpose is to measure basic competencies (reading, arithmetic, it) of the population of 16-65 year olds, to elucidate how competencies are distributed within the population.
